Phone system setup
When your changes go live
What the publishing indicator in the sidebar means.
When you save a change to a number, line, menu or phrase, RetailPhone sends it to the phone system for you. That takes a moment. The indicator near the bottom of the sidebar tells you where things stand.
Saving is instant, and you can carry on working while a change is on its way.

| You see | It means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| All changes live | Callers are getting your latest setup. | Nothing. This is the resting state. |
| Publishing changes, or the name of what's being published | A change is on its way. The indicator names the piece and the step it's on. | Wait a few seconds. Select the indicator to watch the steps. |
| 1 change isn't live, or N changes aren't live, with Review | Something didn't reach the phone system. | Select Review, read what failed, and select Retry. |
Rows on the Numbers, Lines, Menus and Phrases screens also show Publishing… while that particular item is on its way, and show nothing once it's live.
Good habits
- Save, wait for All changes live, then call your number to test.
- Make related changes together — a phrase and the menu that uses it — then test once at the end.
- If a change still isn't live after a few minutes, see Troubleshooting.
A failed change doesn't undo your work. What you saved is kept, and Retry sends it again.
